THE story headed Have a Hart' on the front page of last week's Citizen demonstrates once again just how out of touch our council is with both the requirements of the community and reality.
It dumps a rusty heap of scrap depicting Lakeland on the pavement almost opposite the restaurant and we have to endure it.
Harts presents us with a warm and tasty cup of tea and a bun at a pavement table and the council tells us that we have to to move on!
Considering the case, as presented by your paper, and also having seen what other traders are allowed to do, I would advise Harts to ignore the ill-conceived threat of legal action and carry on with pavement tables.
Let the council take its threatened action and make a complete fool of itself. I for one am prepared to donate £20 towards the costs of defending any legal action.
