NORTH Lancashire teams fared badly in the opening round of the Lancs FA Amateur Shield on Saturday - with only three out of 14 making it into the hat for the second round draw.

Carnforth Rangers had the easiest win as they beat Burnely side Read 5-0, thanks largely to a Martin Lewis hat trick.

But Syle-Hest beat Preston's Highcross by 7-2 and Millhead saw off New lopngton Rovers by the odd goal in seven.
