MOTOR cycle racer Glyn Ormerod had an up and down day at Brands Hatch crashing out of one race to lose ground in this summer's New Era Superclub British Championship.
But then the Morecambe rider (pictured) got back on his bike to win race two in the weekend double header, despite having to start from the back of the grid.
Ormerod was in pole position for the opening race on Saturday and was well ahead on the second lap when he lost the front end of his machine and crashed out.
It seemed to be the end of his title hopes for 2004 as closest rival Rick Ellis finished in the points.
From the ninth row of the grid Ormerod had to do something special in race two and he rose magnificently to the challenge.
The local hero began carving his way through the field from the opening seconds and, with incredible skill and determination, had burst into the lead by lap four.
He was never headed again as he held on to take the chequered flag and the victory but most importantly to stay in the frame for the championship showdown on October 16 at Donnington Park.
Rick Ellis leads the field from Steve Tomes by 12 points, with Ormerod a further two points adrift in third place.
