BATTLING Lancaster City came back from two goals down to win a seven-goal thriller at Droylesden on Monday night.

And no-one could argue it was more than Phil Wilson's never-say-die men deserved as they brought an end to a 16-month unbeaten home run for The Bloods.

Caught cold by the hosts' direct style, the Dolly Blues were 2-0 behind within 20 minutes as first Dave Cameron and then Gareth Morris took advantage of free kicks given away in dangerous positions.

But rather than lying down and accepting it was going to be a bad night at the office, City stormed back and began to control the game.

Ryan Zico Black and Steve Jones both had potshots at goal before new signing Chris Beech opened his City account on 37 minutes following a cross from Neil Prince.

And it was the same player who levelled matters right on the stroke of half time with a shot from distance into the top corner.

Droylesden went ahead again on 48 minutes as Morris also hit the target for the second time - but still City kept plugging away.

Big defender Joe McMahon went forward for a 68th minute set piece and it was his header which was deflected into his own net by unfortunate home defender Craig Robinson.

On 72 minutes the hosts lost two-goal Morris when he was sent off for a second yellow card - and two minutes later City favourite Black put the Giant Axe men ahead for the first time as he met a cross from substitute Ian Dawes.

It could have got worse for Droylesden in the closing minute as Prince underlines City's superiority with a shot that cannoned away off the crossbar.
