THE tenth annual Trainriggs Horse and Pony Fun Day raised £500 for the British Heart Foundation as 30 riders and 20 entrants for the Driving Marathon enjoyed the hot, sunny day, near Kirkby Stephen.

The event was organised Kathleen Haughey and Hayle Johns, both 20, who have both been involved in the Fun Day in Memory of Nelson Robinson since it began more than 12 years ago.

The Invitation Driving Marathon was this year sponsored by Frank Edwards and attracted 20 entrants.

The youngest competitor was Nikkita Guy, four, from Newby, near Penrith, who rode her four-year old pony Paddy.

Kathleen said: "The committee would like to thank Haughey Antiques for their generous donation towards the advertising for this year's show, and Hodgson's sawmill for their donation."
