FOOTBALL: Appleby found Kendal County too strong them in the Talbot Insurance Westmorland League on Saturday, and went down 4-2.
Appleby went 1-0 up after 20 minutes when a County defender turned a John Coward cross into his own net under pressure from Tony Johnson.
County equalised shortly afterwards, Craig Nelson's slip allowing a forward in to score, and the home side fell 3-1 behind when failing to clear a cross on the stroke of half time.
Appleby rallied in the second half and produced the best goal of the game, a four-man move down the left ending with Ben Greenhow sidefooting home.
However, County took the match beyond Jock Nugent's men when a deflected shot beat goalkeeper Paul Crawford.
