THERE was a feather in the cap for the show's cattle sections this year as the Aberdeen Angus Breed Society said it was planning to nominate the Westmorland as its show of the year for 2005.
Each year, the breed society puts forward three of its favourite smaller shows as show of the year.
If the Westmorland comes out on top, it can expect to see the numbers of Angus cattle double or triple next year.
Pamela Holliday, of Low Hall Farm, Harrogate, who took the title of breed champion in the Aberdeen Angus section with a "good-natured" three-and-a-half tonne bull called Linburn Echo, said: "It will be good for the Westmorland Agricultural Show. It's a lovely show to come to."
