FIVE people have been arrested and released on police bail, charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in the case of the murder of 17-year-old Shafilea Ahmed.
Her badly decomposed body was found in the River Kent at Sedgwick, near Kendal, in the aftermath of floods in February.
All five people are described by police as "close family members". Two men in their late thirties, a man in his early thirties, a man in his sixties and a woman in her early twenties, are all from the Bradford area and were bailed until December 15.
Walking talks SOUTH Lakeland residents and businesses will be able to comment on proposals to pedestrianise Kendal town centre at a Cumbria County Council organised exhibition being staged at Kendal Town Hall next Tuesday, September 14, between 2pm and 6pm. It is proposed to introduce pedestrianisation for a trial period which will involve introducing two-way traffic between Sandes Avenue and Library Road, restricting vehicle access between Library Road and the town hall and reversing the one-way traffic flow over this stretch to make it southbound.

GORDON Ramsay is back in Ambleside this weekend to revisit The Glass House for an update on the nightmare' he filmed for Channel 4 earlier this year. Unlike last time, proprietor Neil Farrell is hoping the top chef's visit will go like a dream thanks to the fact that business has been booming since Ramsay's frantic antics were broadcast to the nation.
