TWO Conservatives have emerged as likely candidates to replace Rex Toft as leader of Cumbria County Council.
Conservatives on CCC were expected to decide on a preferred candidate to recommend to the full council for ratification next Thursday, September 16.
Informed sources say last night's vote for the nomination was expected to be between Kirkby Stephen councillor Tim Stoddard and Barrow councillor Jack Richardson.
Rex Toft last week announced he was to stand down as leader of the council and its ruling Conservative/Lib Dem alliance after three years in charge.
