THERE will be drinking, dancing and merriment of all kinds in Ulverston over the next two weeks as the town stages its annual Charter Festival.
The extravaganza begins with the traditional crowning of the Charter Princess in the Market Place on Saturday, commemorating the moment when King Edward I blessed Ulverston with its market charter in 1280.
There follows 33 different events including the beer festival, a longbow tournament, Flamenco dancing and the spectacular finale at the Ulverston Lantern Procession on September 18.
