IT SOUNDS like Matthew Wootton (Letters last week) needs to chill out a bit..He seems overly perturbed by the fact that another party's prospective candidate has an interest in the environment.
To my knowledge Labour's Anne Sacks has always supported sustainable transport measures.
And as a former South African, of course she is in favour of fair trade and opposes the idea of gas storage in the Wyre. Last month's explosion at a gas storage plant in Texas should convince any of us of that.
He also seems to think that Anne is in favour of the Western by-pass. Wrong again. Since moving to the area she has been consistently saying she would take her lead from expert reports on environmental and economic impact. That she has done.
Mr Wootton is right about one thing though. I'm sure Anne Sacks is keen to beat the Tories at the next General Election (whenever it comes). They are a party who couldn't care less about jobs, social justice, fair trade or the environment.
Darren Clifford, Heysham.
