A TEENAGER from Heysham is jetting off to Germany next week for an inspirational design trip courtesy of the Audi Design Foundation.
Eighteen-year-old former Ripley St. Thomas pupil Kathryn Arkwright won the Lancashire and Cumbria Audi Young Designer of the Year' title in May with her self supporting boiling unit A-level design project.
Her success at Lancaster Audi in Manchester, earned Kathryn a place in the national final to be held in Gateshead later this month.
But it also won her a three-day all-expenses paid trip to Audi's hi-tech car plant which will to take a close-up view of the latest design techniques.
Kathryn will fly to Germany next Tuesday to visit the German prestige car maker's plant in Ingolstadt and meet Audi's award-winning design team.
Audi Design Foundation development manager Rebecca Edge says: "Over the last three years the competition has gone from strength to strength both in terms of nationwide entry and the quality of designs.
"Winning a regional round is a major accolade and, as an aspiring designer, the trip to Germany is an experience money literally cannot buy."
