REIGNING champions Storeys got off to the worst possible start to the new British Energy North Lancashire Football League season a home defeat by Boys Club.

Adam Rawlins opened the score for the visitors after just 10 minutes of a game they controlled from the first whistle.

It took them until five minutes from time to make the points safe as Richard Chambers and even then Storeys set up a grandstand finish as John Hargreaves netted and Boys Club keeper Derek Davis was twice called on to deny an undeserved leveller from a late rally.

Runners-up Slyne with Hest also opened their season with a surprise reverse, this time losing by the odd goal in seven at the hands of promoted Caton United.
