Autumn/winter 2004 is all about style. The androgynous simplicity of past winter fashion has faded into a distant memory. Smart casual has been folded neatly into the bottom drawer. Your simple little black dress suddenly seems so... simple.

It's time to blow the dust from your granny's box of brooches, to attack the attic for the first time since Lovejoy was on the box.

In place of the bootleg trouser comes the skirt with pleated kick hem, square necklines have given way to the return of the sweetheart and waistlines have crept up an inch or two - it's all about movement, attitude, it's all about style!

The autumn/winter collection at Lakeland is slowly filtering into their stores. Elegant, stylish pieces that sit beautifully with the addition of a flower brooch, pearls or clean-cut on their own. Vintage style leathers include the man's soft black leather biker' jacket with go faster stripes', the classic style of the worn look' blazer, and the longer-length, belted leather coat.

The ladies, two-piece suit is here at last - very Channel in its design, cut superbly for remarkable comfort and movement.

I love the stawberry-pink suit', delicious for femme fatal shape with a wiggle in your walk.

Put away your stomach, pull up your pants... it's cool to be covered, be a true lady in soft vintage style.

How lucky was I as a stylist, this summer, to come across the newly re-developed Waterhead Hotel that sits at the entrance to Ambleside, overlooking the lake.

"Sophistication and contemporary luxury" it says on the brochure, and that's exactly what you get.

The light airy reception on Lake Road is a dream for the fashion photographer. The chandeliers and polished wood, walnut-esque panelling and beautiful pieces' placed perfectly around the sweeping staircase and sumptuous leather sofas, a dream for the stylist - where better then, for me, to take London model Anna and Paris-based model Tim, to shoot some of the Lakeland autumn/winter collection.

Photographer Tamara Peel was inspired immediately with a choice of areas and backdrops to work from, even the open view kitchen was used for a lifestyle shot (lucky chefs, working with a such a lake view).

The copper plated bar and glass walls filled with vintage bottles of wine etc. served as perfect masculine' backdrops for Tim to show off the Lakeland vintage leathers collection.

Beautiful flower prints' hanging on the walls of the colourful restaurant added a playful quality to the final shots of Anna wearing my favourite female vintage-inspired suit.

The wrought iron walkways outside the hotel became balconies' for Lakeland's Hollywood' furs (fake fur of course!). See what you think of the final looks captured at the Waterhead Hotel.
