PEOPLE who suffer from ME, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, will have specialist staff they can call on for help thanks to a successful NHS bid for funds.
From next April a team of medics will be on hand to help patients cope with the effects of the disease, which vary widely from people who are mildly affected to those who are bed-bound.
Local charity Morecambe Bay ME Group worked alongside Morecambe Bay Primary Care Trust and other PCTs to submit the bid and were awarded £111,000.
The team will include a physiotherapist, a nurse, a clinical psychologist, a support worker and a part-time physio helper.
Morecambe Bay ME Group chair Dominic Kelly said: "We are delighted the bid has been successful. ME sufferers around Morecambe Bay and South Lakes have for too long been out in the cold as far as specialist services are concerned."
