KENDAL police believe a night of vandalism which left the Kendal Klipper and Kirkbie Kendal School with smashed windows and a £1,200 bill could be connected.
The green vintage bus, which transports passengers around the town for free, was left with four smashed windows after it was vandalised on Friday night.
Damage to the bus, which is kept at United Utilities on Parkside Road, was estimated at £500.
Kendal Town Centre Manager Steve Finch, who said the bus should be back on the road this week, added: "It's a shame.
The bus is free of charge and the whole community use it. However, the bus was immediately replaced and it was business as usual."
On the same evening, 12 window panes were smashed at Kirkbie Kendal School on Lound Road, causing £800 worth of damage.
Inspector Ian Carruthers said the incidents were possibly connected.
