WESTMORLAND and Lonsdale MP Tim Collins is seeking a meeting with Defence Ministers to discuss the future of the King's Own Royal Border Regiment (KORBR). The Cumbrian Regiment may be threatened by a shake-up of Britain's armed forces, which was recently announced by the Government. Mr Collins has written to the Secretary of State for Defence, Geoff Hoon, asking to put the case for keeping the historic regiment's identity. Mr Collins said: "Young men and women from Westmorland deserve the chance to serve in their local regiment."
