THE serenity of the French countryside is being blended with Disney classics and musical hits from the Sixties and Seventies in a show with something for everyone.
The Princess Margereta Hall at St Martin's College, Lancaster, will be the setting for the Joan Ward School of Dance's Summer Spectacular being planned for August 31 and September 1.
During the first-half of the show, pupils from aged four upwards will strut their stuff as they jazz dance to Saturday Night Fever and give the classic The Lion King a new lease of life.
As well as colourful costumes, props and scenery, the show aims to bring some fresh new ideas to school performances.
But traditional ballet lovers are then looked after as the entire second-half of the show is given over to La Fille mal Gardee.
Originally choreographed by Frederick Ashton, it is a ballet for the whole family as it tells the story of Lise, who falls in love despite her mother's plans for her to marry a rich landowner's eccentric son.
It will be the first time in four years that the school has staged a big performance although pupils have been involved in dance competitions many times.
Principal Laura Sandham says: "I decided to put on a show to keep the pupils interested in dancing and give them a break from exams. I believe it will be a big boost to their confidence."
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the children's ward at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. More details and tickets are from 01524-67989 or 07876794205.
Anyone interested in taking up dance classes at the dance school's Nelson Street studios can get details from the same numbers.
