REGENERATION of More-cambe's landmark Midland Hotel will definitely go ahead - with work starting soon after November, according to resort MP Geraldine Smith.
She says she has had assurances from the chief executive and director of regeneration of the North West Regional Development Agency that it will help fund Urban Splash's ambitious plans to revamp the derelict art deco hotel, pictured right.
"They have told me that the project will be going ahead and they are just looking at how much funding they will commit .
"But they say they should know by November and then work can get under way," says Ms Smith.
A spokesman for Manchester-based Urban Splash says they cannot yet confirm that funding has been secured, however.
"A number of discussions have taken place with the agency but as yet nothing has been confirmed, though we are optimistic," she says.
