MAKE it snappy... that's the plea from the people behind a spectacular battle due to place on a Morecambe beach next month.
They want to see as many photographs as possible of the planned D-Day battle re-enactment at the heart of the annual Poulton Heritage Festival.
In fact they want to see pictures of anything and everything to do with the three-day event taking place from September 10 to 12 across Poulton village.
There is a top prize of £100 up for grabs for the best amateur photograph of the festival.
With homes and shops decorated, hundreds of military vehicles on display, exhibitions, stalls, displays and hundreds of people on the streets in uniform or civvies', there will be literally thousands of things to focus on.
And that's even before the major set-piece features of the heritage festival, such as military parades, the grand ball, the beach battle, clothes show and the 1940-style wedding of local couple Steve Tyson and Marie-Karen Chandler.
Organisers on the heritage committee are keen to see as many pictures as possible and so are organising an amateur photo competition to encourage people to keep snapping away.
Pictures can be colour or black and white and can be in any format and any size - so long as they are taken during the three days of the festival.
All the entries will be collected by the Citizen on behalf of the festival committee before going to a judging panel for the winners to be selected.
It is hoped the best pictures can be used in publicity material for the event in future years. There is no restriction on the number of entries per person - so get shooting.
Full competition details and an official entry form will be published in a special festival souvenir booklet being printed by the Citizen which will be available free at the event.
The closing date is September 30 2004.
