A MARKET town is preparing to put its best face on for the cameras, as a television crew is poised to make it the star of a reality television series.
Sedbergh will be the subject of Twin Towns, due to be screened on BBC2 from January 2005, as it bids to end its search for a European twin.
The cameras are due to start rolling on August 28, the day of the town's Medieval Market, and efforts are well under way to make it a memorable occasion. Butcher Garth Steadman, a member of the chamber of trade, said: "The town's buzzing at the moment. We're trying to organise all the local groups to do something when the cameras are here."
TV firm IWC Media, which was involved in C4 series Location, Location, Location, is behind the 12-part documentary.
A long list of 16 potential twins will be narrowed down to four, as the film crew captures the defining characteristics of life in the town. The casting vote will go to the folk of Sedbergh but, as yet, the final four candidates have not been revealed.
