A LANCASTER schoolboy has scooped a silver medal in the national triathlon champion-ships.
Alex Hargreaves, pictured, was a member of the Chester Tri Club team which finished second in the junior men's category in national team relays at the National Watersports Centre, Home Pierpoint The 14-year-old Lancaster Royal Grammar School pupil teamed up with Matt Fisher (15), Matt Gunter (17) and Phil Hogg (13) to claim the prize.
The event was a tag' relay with each competitor having to swim 500 metres in open water followed by a 15k cycle ride and a 5k run before the next could set off.
It was a huge success, with more than 190 teams taking part.
