There are many jewels in the Lake District crown, but the west lakes area is one of the hidden ones. This new package tour' of 16 walks exposes an excellent choice of paths to explore around Broughton, Ulpha and Seathwaite.

The package, which is nicely designed, includes an introductory booklet on the area, its history, geology, wildlife and more. Then each of the sixteen walks is presented, with a map, in a handy four page, laminate, guide. Waterproof, easy to read and carry, you can take one at a time, or the whole lot.

Each walk is outlined technically, with distance, map reference, time, footwear, and supported by detailed description and images. Points of interest along the way are also presented.

Enticing ramblers to walk where sheep outnumber people', the guide includes Swinside Stone Circle, Ulpha Pike, Seathwaite Tarn and Upper Lickle Valley walks. The choices are varied, cover a vast area and will appeal to all levels of walkers.

The package, initiated by the Duddon Valley Accommodation Group, funded with a grant from Hidden Britain and the Lake District National Park sustainable development fund, was a community project involving local artists, guides and walkers.
