ORGANISERS of a help line to support sufferers with mental health issues are calling for volunteers in the Eden Valley to help man the telephone lines.
Chairman of bpdworld Joshua Cole has set up a website for borderline personality disorders, which he suffers from. His organisation now hopes to extend the service to provide a national telephone helpline.
Mr Cole told The Messenger: "Bpdworld is committed to raising awareness and reducing the stigma of mental health, but focusing on borderline personality disorder (BPD).
"We will do this by providing information, advice and support. As I have this disorder, I can tell you that services out there and information is limited and that's why I have set up this site to help others.
"We are planning a new service, which we are due to launch at the end of this month. This will be a peer-led telephone support helpline. To our knowledge, this will be the first of its kind throughout the UK. This will be a great accomplishment but is only going to do any good if people know about it and we have volunteers."
Find out more about the website and helpline service by logging onto the website at www.bpdworld.org. Volunteers do not need to have internet access to be part of the helpline, and access to the internet is available at local libraries.
