MEMBERS of the Westmorland branch of the RSPCA raised £622 with their flag day at Westmorland Services, Tebay.
Chairman of the branch Ruth Pedley said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank Westmorland Services and everyone who has made donations to the branch. All the money raised goes to helping animals in our area."
The total cost of boarding vet's fees and re-homing in 2002 for the Westmorland branch of the RSPCA was more than £31,000. Donations received for animal adoptions were up by £2,600 to £6,380, partly due to more animals being homed, and partly due to the branch requesting a minimum donation now.
And the branch is keen to find a good home for Curly, a five-year old Jack Russell terrier who has been with the Westmorland branch for the RSPCA for three months.
Mrs Pedley said: "Curly is very good with children, people and other dogs, but he does chase cats, which is the main reason why we are having trouble re-homing him. He is a lovely dog but people who have been coming for a new pet have all had cats. He would make a great family pet."
If you would like to help the Westmorland branch of the RSPCA or give a loving home to Curly or one of the many other homeless animals, telephone 01539-60663.
