HIGHGATE veterinary clinic is taking part in National Microchipping Month to promote responsible pet ownership.
The aims of the campaign, which runs throughout August, are to encourage pet owners to get their pets 'identichipped' and to check that the details are correct for those who already have one.
'Identichips' are small devices about the size of a grain of rice, which contain a unique number. This can be read by a scanner and the central computer will then provide the owners details allowing a rapid return of lost or injured animals to their owners.
