MAYHEM is guaranteed at Warton Raceway this weekend as pigs' take to the track for the one and only time this summer.
Pigs is the non-too-technical term for Reliant Robins in the banger world.
They will be racing for the Pride of Lakeland trophy and spills galore are promised because the three-wheeled Robins are not too good at going round corners.
Rolls, like the one pictured above, are common but usually non terminal because the driver can get his vehicle back on its wheels while still at the wheel.
Also in action at Warton on Sunday will be the Ministox, Super Bangers, Stock Cars and a glut of old cars including a Hillman Super Minx, a few A50s (one driven by national banger legend 313 Mick Cottom) and a Zephyr MK1.
The meeting is sponsored by the Invader banger racing team in memory of their good friend Gary Hesp, who died early last year. There is also a Gary Hesp Trophy to be presented to the best looking banger on the day.
YOUNGSTER James Taylor, who had to be cut out of his Ministox machine following an incident at the last meeting, was not badly hurt. A track spokesman says that after being airlifted to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary due to back pains, it was found that James was suffering from nothing more serious than severe bruising.
The next big attraction at the Warton track will be caravan banger racing on August 29, again great fun as the races are usually short but very eventful.
