CITIZEN is planning to publish a special anniversary supplement in May 2005 to mark the sixtieth anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day.

We want to hear about your memories of that pivotal moment in our history and of any events leading up to it.

Where were you during the Second World War and when you heard the news that the conflict had come to an end?

Perhaps you were at home, at work, or maybe you were serving in the Forces abroad.

What were your war experiences and how did you react to the news that the conflict was over? What were the celebrations like in the town or village where you lived?

We would love to hear your war stories and accounts of any street parties or other celebrations you attended on VE Day.

And, of course, as soldiers, sailors and airmen returned home, there were hundreds of reunions with loved-ones. Please send us your memories and any heart-warming stories plus any accounts of the ways in which local people and communities came to terms with peace and the return to some semblance of normality.

Pictures can speak a thousand words so please also let us see your photographs from 60 years ago. We will take care of them and hopefully use as many as we can in our special VE Day supplement.

Next May promises to be a time of great nostalgia. By telling us your stories, you can help us to share with readers just what it was like to live through that time when the war in Europe finally came to an end.
