THE recent announcement that the local NHS trusts have lost their three-star-status reveals just how misleading this Government's obsession with league tables and star-rating of public services really is.
What the report showed is that some local health services are excellent and some need improvement. What it didn't show is that you can get a two star rating for a service that in some cases is non-existent.
I am referring to the declining dental services in the area - with many people still unable to find an NHS dentist. What people want to see is real improvements in services not misleading rating schemes.
