MEMBERS of the public flocked to Holker Hall at the weekend as Countryfile presenter and Castaway survivor Ben Fogle once again donned his wellies for filming of BBC's One Man and His Dog.
As cries of "come by" filled the grounds of the stately home, the plummy presenter joined Shauna Lowry, a familiar face on Animal Hospital and Crufts, to film two days of footage for the popular dog trialing show which sees teams from England, Scotland and Wales, guide a small flock of sheep along various routes and into different rings with the help of man's best friend.
Mr Fogle, a former team captain on the show, said he was "thrilled" to be presenting the show from the "beautiful" venue: "I am thrilled and proud to be presenting this classic BBC programme which brings some of the traditions of the country to a national audience.
"Holker Hall is a beautiful venue, perfect for One Man and His Dog. The show is still tremendously popular and it is nice to know the countryside still has a firm place on television."
The weekend's filming for the popular programme, which was axed from its weekly Saturday afternoon slot in 1999 after 23 years, will form the basis for two programmes scheduled to be shown at Christmas.
