FORMER Westmorland Messenger sales representative john Dawson is now the official voice of motor racing at Barford Raceway and is due to commentate on the World Championship Final for Banger Rods, Ministox and V8 Stockcars in September.
Next Sunday, August 1, John will be at the microphone for the Stuart Downes memorial Cup.
John, who lives at Stainmore, near Kirkby Stephen, said: "Stuart was a lad who loved racing and cars. He bravely fought cancer and continued to come to the races until shortly before his untimely death.
"The Stuart Downes Memorial Cup is a very special race which I am proud to commentate on. Stuart is sadly missed."
Drivers and fans of Brisca FII Stockcars will be coming from home and abroad for the final of the World Championship at Barford Raceway at Barnard Castle on Sunday, September 12. The consolation Semi-Final and two-litre hot rods will be racing on the Saturday, September 11.
