WAKEBOARDERS are used to being up in the air over their sport, but Louise Moore is up in the air more than most.
She leaned her early skills at Pine Lake, Carnforth, before moving to Florida for special coaching that turned her into a world champion.
Now Louise jets back and forth across the Atlantic as a wakeboard commuter as she follows the European Pro Tour.
Currently European champion, she was back on home waters earlier this month for the third round of the British Wakeboarding Championships and she dazzled the crowd at Pine Lake with spectacular aerial manoeuvres as she won the Pro Ladies title.
Local women have done well on the European circuit and another Pine Lake-trained wakeboarder, Jenna McAvoy, was third.
The coach at Pine Lake Watersports is 31-year-old Dave Knight, who has been wakeboarding for ten years and he weighed in by winning the Masters Event.
"The sport has taken my clowning around to new heights," he said, adding: "Water-skiing tends to be pretty strict and the training is disciplined. I sort of rebelled against all that and wakeboarding suited my fun-on-the-water attitude."
Top places in the Men's Pro events went to UK national champion Ben Hitch and UK tour champion Dan Nott.
It was the third year that the championship tour circuit has taken in Pine Lake, but this year there is an extra chance to see the spectacle in Cumbria as the final round is at Port Haverigg on August 7 and 8.
