A CENTURIES old ceremony will be re-enacted in the Furness village of Broughton-in-Furness at noon on Sunday.
People will gather in the village square to witness to annual proclamation of the fair with county councillor Oliver Pearson introducing proceedings from the obelisk steps.
County Coun Jim Webster, chairman of Cumbria County Council Lords of the Manor of Broughton will read the proclamation that will then be repeated by Lynne Burch, chairman of Broughton Parish Council.
After the singing of the National Anthem Coun Webster and other members of the official party will scatter new pennies for local children.
