WINDERMERE parish councillors will recommend that South Lakeland District Council planners refuse plans to turn a former fishing tackle shop into a food and drink unit at Robinson Place.

At the latest meeting, members agreed the change of use application would result in the loss of a retail unit and agreed the number of food and drink outlets in the town was already sufficient. Coun Elizabeth Greasley said: "We seem to be losing more and more shops and getting more and more food and drink units there are too many."
