A GROUP of volunteers in Grizebeck who have been renting and running The Greyhound Inn for the last year are trying to raise enough money to buy the pub.
Volunteers set up the Greyhound Community Pub Ltd to run the business, and used its funds to employ a handful of staff.
One of these employees, current manager, Martin Barr, had made an offer to Greyhound owners Dick and Christine Strike to buy the establishment, valued at £300,000.
The Strikes have always said that if an offer was made, the community would have the chance to match the offer, and the volunteers have raised up to £70,000 so far, but only have until the end of the month to raise the full amount.
Earlier this year, The Greyhound Inn was named the Best British Traditional Business Award by the Countryside Alliance.
