Derek Tunstall, member of the park boundary walk team, reported in on Saturday evening from Fell End Bunk Barn near Broughton, to say the day's walk had been great'.
On their second day the group experienced mixed weather, including rain that required putting on waterproofs, during their 18-mile walk.
They climbed 630 meters, and from their campsite were enjoying a view of the Duddon Estuary and Black Combe, which was under cloud.
Derek reported that a member of the Lake District National Park Authority accompanying them, introduced a variety of flowers, including Herb Robert, well known to the limestone region they hiked though, but not so well known to people not familiar with the local plants.
They also spotted a number of birds, badger prints and unusual buildings along the way.
Spaghetti bolognaise was being prepared for their supper, so Derek signed off, promising a report in the next couple of days.
Tomorrow morning, the group will set off at 8 am, go through the Wicham Valley and end their day at Muncaster Castle. Monday they will walk from Bootle to Gosforth.
