BINGE drinkers were targeted over the bank holiday weekend as the police rang last orders on boozy punters causing violence.
More than 60 people were arrested as part of the county-wide police Nightsafe campaign.
In Lancaster and Morecambe police patrolled the streets, visited problem pubs, conducted sweeps on gangs of youths and confiscated alcohol.
Lancaster's Inspector Andy Williams said officers also handed out several penalty notices to people acting disorderly.
"We were happy with the results and pleased with the way the pubs managed their premises, although a few were highlighted as having problems. We also tested off-licences and I am glad to say that none served people under age," he says.
Assistant chief constable Julia Hodson adds: "Our communities are fed up of the aggressive behaviour of alcohol-fuelled youths and the drunken vandalism that is a consequence of binge-drinking."
Figures reveal that alcohol accounts for half of violent crime. Police hope their tactics will drive home the message that binge drinking is not acceptable.
