MORECAMBE FC's finest hour is brought vividly back to life in a new book full of fascinating reading for all non-league football fans.
The FA Trophy by Paul Eade charts the history of the non-league scene's greatest cup competition from Macclesfield Town's success in 1970 through to the fairytale story of tiny Burscough last year.
There is a match report for every final and an in focus' section which details some of the clubs and people that have made the tournament special.
This is not a book to enthral you and make you read it all at one go, by any means. But it's a book that any football fan would be proud to keep on the coffee table one of those that you can pick up day after day, leaf through and find something different to grab your attention.
It may be that the exploits of Wycombe before they were a league club are a specialist subject, or what about Barrow's run to glory in 1990.
For local people, though, it is the chapter chronicling Morecambe's 2-1 triumph over Dartford at Wembley on April 27, 1974, that will hold most interest.
It certainly taught me something I didn't even know my brother-in-law Barrie Kershaw was a former Shrimp, never mind that he was in the team, right, on the greatest day in club history.
The FA Trophy by Paul Eade (Tempus Publishing) costs £14.99 from bookshops.
