If the Morecambe Bay option goes ahead in the wake of a yes' vote in the regional devolution referendum, it will throw up some difficult questions with serious implications for the area.
For instance, where will the new authority's headquarters be: Kendal, Barrow or Lancaster? If the answer is Barrow or Lancaster, what will happen to municipal buildings in Kendal, such as the town hall, county hall and current CCC and SLDC offices?
What will happen if the people of Lancashire, who will also be offered a choice between a powerful new Lancashire County Council and a second option with Lancaster joining the new Morecambe Bay authority, vote for a Morecambe Bay while the people of Cumbria vote against it in the referendum?
