Skippers Dave Fallows and Tommy Prime give the view from their side...
DAVE: Away to Darwen and although we lost the toss we took 15 points! Quite a feat when you consider that deepest, darkest Lancashire has not been our happiest hunting ground in recent years. The whole team responded to a long chat about a more positive frame of mind against last year's champions and it worked a treat.
Within a great team performance there is always individual brilliance and last week was no exception.
Kabir Khan continued his fantastic form with both bat and ball, bowling 20 overs after batting and getting an outstanding century.
James Rafferty is definitely developing fast at this level as his 4 for 30-odd shows. Kevin Howarth also made his mark by getting out their two best players at the right time. However, I think a more important contribution for us, and the team's balance, was Gareth Ashburner's epic 44 in 43 overs, which is exactly what I asked him to do.
Actually I wanted him to bat 57 and get 57! And he would have if not been given out to a questionable run-out. Well done mate!
This weekend we are home to current league leaders Morecambe on Saturday and away to the old enemy at Parkside Road on Monday.
I say the old enemy and we are on the field but best of mates off the field, and that seems to be lacking against other sides. Little post-match chat now exists between sides, which is a great loss for the game and especially the youngsters coming through.
Elsewhere in the club our juniors are having an outstanding season, and our Seconds managed a win as defending champions of the Oxbridge Cup, People like Craig Brown are doing an outstanding job for the side. He performs week in week out, taking wickets and making runs, and also gives up time to develop the younger players. It is just a shame we do not have more like Craig to help these young lads progress.
TOMMY: Two lovely days and two very solid displays from us - we played good quality cricket all weekend.
With still some of our seam bowlers out we used Phil Hartley on Saturday who bowled magnificently to claim four wickets for six runs and claim 15 points for us.
After we had a small mix-up with the toss, we batted and made a very good 265-5 with a stylish Walmsley making 123, and another tremendous quality innings from Dale Benkenstein helping to build our large total.
The cricket at Netherfield is superb at present and with all this sun it is getting, the outfield is a lot quicker than normal for May. It makes it a lot more interesting as runs come fast and everything seems more exciting.
All of the team seem to be enjoying the game at the moment with everyone contributing. Rishi Girdhari demonstrated this in the field on Sunday with two excellent catches, which put a big smile on his face.
Everyone needs to field well when the outfields get quick because if you let the ball past it has gone, so diving and taking the friction burns is a must for the team's sake.
So into another Bank Holiday weekend and all to play for in the terms of points with a maximum of 30 on offer. My other point to mention this week is a notice of concern to my fellow players that they are drinking a little too much cider with ice in. Be careful lads it can be funny stuff!
