DID the mafia kill Kennedy in collusion with the CIA? Did the moon landing take place in a film studio? Did Lady Di meet her end at the hands of Prince Phillip?
More importantly, is the bay bridge proposal merely a way to justify having a western bypass despite the fact that the comparative survey reveals, predictably enough, that it is a very poor choice? You may smile but I do wonder.
Cltr Wade's letter (Citizen, last week) reminds me that the lights at Scale Hall corner have certainly had the effect of making the journey between Lancaster and Morecambe a lot more difficult.
As many local people are wrongly assuming that the bypass will significantly improve this journey time it no doubt helps to increase public support for this proposal that the County Council has, for many years, been recklessly obsessed with.
Repeated insistence on keeping it in local transport plans have cost the area a great deal of money in alternative transport funding possibilities.
By the County Council's own admission, the lights, when new, went through a period of time when they needed fine tuning' and during which the delays were even worse.
At that point in time, the same county council was recording traffic flows on Morecambe Road in order to collect information for the above mentioned comparative survey. Coincidence? I really don't know but I do wonder.
