Eden league leaders Kirkby Stephen emerged with a winning draw from a fascinating encounter with Shap on Saturday.
Kirkby were restricted to 166 for five in 40 overs, with Simon Turner 68 not out and Duncan Rose contributing a stylish 60, before Shap looked on course for victory with 86 for 0 in reply after 22 overs. But Paul Thornborrow bagged the openers' wickets (D. Johnston 35 and D. Lightburn 49) and Shap then played out for 139 for seven at the close.
