Sir, While spending my annual holiday in the Lakes, I took note of an article which was to do with the taking down of a tasteless garden feature in Kirkby Lonsdale. The planners must be commended on this decision.
However I would like to add my concern by saying, there seems to be more and more tasteless, out of keeping garden follies springing up all over these once-picturesque villages.
In the past it looks as if the planners had turned a blind eye to what must have seemed small detail, such as plastic windows, aggressive lighting, advertising signboards, etc.
If you add all these and more together they really can spoil the look of the area.
Why not ask your readers to send in a photograph of their worst town or village folly nightmare. It could be a building, extension, patio, whatever. It would be very interesting.
