ONE of five new fire engines presented to Cumbria Fire Service is to be based in Kendal. The new vehicle will carry the latest fire and rescue equipment.
The vehicles have cost £542,000 and are part of the county's fire service vehicle replacement programme.
The other engines will be sited at Barrow, Workington, Carlisle, and Keswick. Deputy chief fire officer Bernard Dolan said: "We are most grateful to members of Cumbria County Council for providing money to purchase these vehicles, which will ensure that fire fighters have the best appliances and equipment with which to serve the public of Cumbria."
