HEYSHAM finally broke their duck in the top flight of local cricket - with a fairly routine six wicket triumph over fellow strugglers Ibis.
The Kendal-based side were offered first use of the wicket after Heysham won the toss and could scrape together only 89 all out, leaving Heysham plenty of time and overs to stroll to their first maximum points haul of the summer.
In the event it took just 26 overs to reach 92 for 4 with Powell scoring 26 and Thistlethwaite 35 not out.
Shireshead, however, are still seeking a win after being turned over on their trip to play a powerful Windermere outfit.
Shireshead batted first and set a tantalising 154 all out total ( D Carter 46) for the home side to chase - which they did success-fully with three wickets intact to keep up the pressure on pace-setters Warton at the top.
Warton, for their part, made it four wins out of four as they put visitors Bare in to bat and restricted them to just 139 for 9 in their allotted overs, with only McDonald (32) and Dave Kendall (35) making notable contributions.
In reply, Warton cruised to an eight wickets win in 37 overs with opener Barrow hitting 71 and R Nelson junior 33 not out.
Westgate did their ambitions no harm after winning the toss at Burneside and putting the home side in to bat.
It proved a good decision as pace bowler P Wilson (5-22) ripped through the heart of the innings to reduce Burneside to 21 for 6 at one stage.
The innings ended on 61 all out from 36 overs to allow Westgate to stroll to a nine wicket veridct on 62 for 1 - that man Wilson completing a good all-round day with an unbeaten 23.
League champions Milnthorpe, meanwhile, were suffering more misery misery at home against Sedgwick.
Put in to bat, they made 140 all out and then had no answer as the villagers made a quick 144 for 4 in reply to take the points.
Westgate A stay top of Division Two despite being denied a win by a valiant rearguard action by Burneside A.
The Westgate score of 124 all out, made batting first, did not look too formidable but in reply Burneside were left hanging on at 90 for 8 at stumps.
Trimpell are still looking for a first win since relegation, and now sit uncomfortably close to the bottom of Division Two.
They were limited to 109 for 9 at Coniston despite 57 from S Beniston and went on to lose by seven wickets.
Only Carnforth have a worse record after losing for the fourth week in a row, this time by a 44-run margin at Kirkby Lonsdale.
