I am trying to find an article which would have appeared in The Westmorland Gazette about the end of September, early October 1987.
The article was about a hit and run' accident where the person was taken to Kendal hospital and then transferred to Manchester. That person was my brother. I have a friend in the Lakes who told me, after his death, that she had read an article but hadn't put two and two' together and realized it was about my brother.
There may have been a photo but I'm not sure. My brother's name was Anthony Woodward.
As it turned out, it wasn't a hit and run' accident (Tony was found by a farmer on the side of the road near Kendal) but hypothermia. Tony was transferred and later died at Manchester, where my parents were called to identify his body. I would be very grateful for any information as my sister and I are trying to piece together his last whereabouts and events. My parents lived in Sussex at the time but moved soon after my brother's death. My father has since died and my mother has cancer. My mother never got over my brother's death. Even to the point that there is no headstone on his grave.
My sister and I would now like to lay Tony to rest and need to piece together as much information about his death, dates etc as possible.
We would be very grateful for any information you may have.
Yours faithfully Angie Haines (Mrs)
