Not much yo-ho-ho for the tottering batsman...with ... Dave Fallows and Tommy Prime.
DAVE : The word Cockspur has been synonymous for Kendal CC in the past with many of its members enjoying the sweet taste of the brand of rum that bears its name.
However, Sunday's experience in the Cockspur Cup left more of a sour taste.
Due to a lack of available senior players, we had the opportunity to give valuable experience to more young up-and-coming talent.
At one point outside the pavilion I was sat next to five other players in our side who were all aged under 18.
Unfortunately, we batted awfully, with the notable exception of Terry Hunte, who scored 45.
We all lacked discipline and application against a Fleetwood attack, who took wickets all too easily.
Youngster Dan George, who batted at No. 8 and scored 15 not out, enjoyed a personal highlight and deserves credit for the effort - well done!
In the field James 'Jammy' Rafferty again continued to improve. He produced his best spell of pace bowling yet for us, taking 2 for 14 off seven overs, finding a better line and hitting the seam well.
In the end Fleetwood lost five wickets chasing our meagre total of 88, with late replacement Adrian Potts taking two splendid catches.
Over the past couple of weeks a number of Kendal youngsters have performed well.
It is important that the future of Kendal CC is handled correctly, with all three teams introducing and offering opportunities to the youngsters when the time and place is appropriate, ensuring that they have the chance to contribute to the team at their chosen discipline.
This weekend we must perform up to potential with two important home matches. We face early league leaders Blackpool on Saturday and then Southport Trinity in the Lancashire Cup on Sunday.
We need to improve our pre-match preparation, which for some reason we seem to have lost a little from last year.
We then need to put more importance on putting together partnerships and building an innings.
TOMMY: One very bad day and one very good day, was the weekend assessment. We bowled ok on Saturday only for Fleetwood pro Doug Marillier to somehow get to his century.
Our new professional Dale Benkenstein bowled very well indeed and was a great asset in the field with his input and general chat to everyone.
Chasing 182, we batted dreadfully to crumble to a score which I don't wish to mention.
After some choice words were spoken in the dressing room, Sunday brought a far better performance with Chris Parry producing delectable strokeplay to all corners of Parkside Road.
Batting at number 3, he looked in excellent order, controlling the innings throughout with good support from Girdhari and White.
I moved the order around to give some of the lads a better opportunity to bat rather than coming in for the last 10 overs or having to deal with a mini-collapse situation, and they responded with some fine strokeplay.
Chris Parry also took over the wicket-keeping duties to allow Gareth to bowl well- flighted off-spin, which gave us an extra option and a change of attack.
Conistency must be found soon to maintain a push for a top placing in the league and to progress in the cups.
We must learn to bat in partnerships and support our team mates when things don't go to plan.
A new management regime is in place with Gary Clarke and Janet Clarke looking after the team very well. Janet seems very good at obtaining money from each player straight after the game, so well done to you both!
