POLICE are stepping up patrols in a bid to cut car park crime in Silverdale.
The summer months bring many people to the area and, in the past, travelling criminals have targeted the cars of people often away from their vehicles for some time on walks.
The problem has become more acute and police have launched an operation codenamed Seaford to tackle the criminals.
"Silverdale is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty and draws nature lovers from far and wide," said PC Roger Brooksbank.
"Such sites have been targeted by criminals and the crimes committed at these car parks can account for a high proportion of the area's annual crime rate."
