PATRICIA England is merely setting out to create mischief in Morecambe's West End without bothering to seek the facts (Letters, last week).
It is time we left behind the immature' message she is putting about that Morecambe is the poorer neighbour of Lancaster and started to engage in sensible and meaningful discussion about the future of the West End. Regeneration will not happen if reactionary behaviour is all that is on offer.
The rumour about housing demolition is simply not correct.
But what we do have is a golden opportunity to regenerate Morecambe and enrich the lives of local people. We can only do this if we work in partnership as a community.
We have in place the West End Partnership as the tool to help regeneration Patricia England knows about this and the role it will play because she was part of it when it was formed.
It includes people from all walks of life, including residents, councillors and city officials. It has recently taken more new people on board.
The partnership can be very effective in relation to making the right decisions for the future and Patricia can be assured that residents will be fully informed in the correct manner as to what will be happening and when it will happen It will all start with an open day on Wednesday, May 19, from noon until 8pm at the United Reformed Church on Sefton Road and we also have the first edition of the West End Partnership newsletter going out soon.
Hopefully this will answer many of the concerns aired.
Cllr David Whitaker, Harbour ward.
