CRIME prevention experts at Morecambe are warning local people to lock up their sheds.
Experts say the garden shed is a place that gets little security despite the fact it often contains a wealth of equipment.
But thieves have cottoned on to rich pickings such as lawn mowers, bikes, garden furniture and tools.
Police crime prevention officer Jan Brown says residents must do all they can to foil thieves.
Her advice is * Fit a good lock on the shed door and secure the hinges..
* Secure windows by means of key operated window locks or by screwing them shut if they are not required.
* Consider fitting an electronic intruder alarm with a very loud sounder inside the building that would deter offenders.
* Clearly mark property in the shed with your post code.
